Nonprofit Organization Headquarters:
The Issues: The Sustainability Department of a nonprofit in Wyoming requested advisory services to investigate several issues that had arisen with their new headquarters building, and coordinate with another supplier who was proposing on their controls system upgrade to ensure the owner’s intent would be met in the control system upgrade.
The Solutions: Current-C Energy [Systems] investigated the headquarters facility as well as an adjoining building, providing recommendations for maintenance on the air handling systems, reconfiguring lighting systems, and covering wall surfaces where severe thermal bridging was occurring. In addition, Current-C Energy [Systems] provided destratification equipment for common areas, and coordinated the controls system upgrade with the controls company.
The Numbers: The improvements in which Current-C Energy [Systems] was involved helped the organization to meet its energy reduction goals a year early, and install fewer solar photovoltaic panels at their headquarters building due to the reduced usage.
The Comments: The Sustainability Coordinator and Facilities Manager worked closely with Current-C Energy [Systems] during the auditing and evaluation process, and enthusiastically carried the work forward once the project was complete; sustainability programs continue to be very important to the organization.
